I have too many layers :X

I have over 18 layers for this video. (effects, layering footage etc) im not even 1/10 of the way done with it.. how can we limit the number I use?

For me, 18 layers is nothing. : x However, if it's bothering you, why don't you label and minimize your tracks so that they are smaller and more condense? For example, if you have a track that is only functioning for an overlay, just minimize it. You don't need to edit with it since it's just sitting there, and it makes scrolling a lot easier on yourself. Also, you can minimize the muted audio track layer as well. Hope this helped.

When importing from the trimmer you can set it to it only selecting video rather than both. I forget the keyboard short cut right now though.... I think it's tab o-o

Another way to do is that is right click on the clip in the trimmer and it gives you the option to select both, video only or audio only. <3

Or if you want to separate audio from video, you can right click, go to group, and click remove from group <3

I know how to seperate audio. Its only because the layers are taking forever for me to scroll. -sigh- Thank you everyone. Sarah that has been highly useful :D

Well, you can always try to group some of the layers and then you can expand and collapse them as you like
You just need to highlight the tracks and then right-click --> track group --> group selected track

Agreed! I usually just minimize my entire project on the timeline and focus on 2 layers at a time. Especially for my long 5min videos when the timeline just looks crowded.

It got to the point where I had to render it... just so I can minimize layers. -______-

Well maybe in the end its better organized that way XD
