Motivation
Hey, I don't really edit much anymore and I'm not great but I like to now and then.
However recently I try to edit some stuff and I have lost most of my motivation to finish stuff. (Some of that is down to technical issues, while the rest is laziness).
So anyway I was wondering how so many people manage to create so many different videos and stuff? What motivates so many different creations?

Re: Motivation
I'm motivated by...the finished project :D knowing that it will have been worth the effort somehow!
Re: Motivation
My own personal motivation comes from my drive of loving to edit.
Seriously, I love editing. As soon as I find a song I love and pull it into Vegas, before I know it 7 hours have passed and the project is halfway complete xDDDD
Its a too bad that no one else has the same inspiration that I just conjure.. it's almost as if they see editing as a chore and not a hobby..

This is when people get upset and quit.Lacrymosai wrote:

I find a lot of inspiration in songs :D sometimes I can be listening and I'll go! Snap! Video idea and then it just sorta happens.
Re: Motivation
That's very interesting to hear ^_^
It's a shame that you say some people feel their hobby a chore. Hobbies are meant to be fun!

Re: Motivation
Yeah I reckon! Im seeing it more and more - people say they are so uninspired and that whenever they open up their editing program they feel entirely depressed. Its sad..
Re: Motivation
I can relate to those who feel lack of inspiration. I never understood it either, until it happened. A few years ago I couldn't imagine not wanting to edit, not being inspired to edit. There were millions of possibilities, endless stories and ideas to create. But then, after several personal things happened and I found myself unable to edit, when I came back it just wasn't the same. All my inspiration, all my ideas were just... gone. Sad, it is. But I realized it wasn't editing that was the problem, it was me. It definitely is somewhat "depressing" not having that inspiration you once did. And once you get into that editing funk, it only makes finishing a project worse! So you have to basically kick yourself in the ass and tell yourself to stop being a grump and just have fun. Most of the time it's editors being so hard on themselves where they think anything they make isn't good enough. Once I realized that my videos were obviously lacking, my inspiration took a vacation and my computer is shit, I decided to just edit and have fun. Slowly I'm getting back into things, but I don't think it will ever be the same enjoyment as it used to be, sadly. Which makes me wonder if I should just move on, or keep holding on. Hmms, that right there could be a good story for a video. xD The fact that I sit in the car and listen to the radio running different video ideas through my head with every song makes me think it's not over yet!
Re: Motivation
I get motivation when I listen to new songs or when I find new footage. Maybe you need some variety in your songs or footage. ♥ :)
Re: Motivation
I too have been suffering with a lack of inspiration. For the last year or so I have been completely unable to make anything longer than a minuet or so that hasn't had the music pre-selected e.g. MEP parts (I've also failed to post anything on the site. Hello guys I'm back).
I'm putting this down partly to the fact my life has changed a lot in the last year. I've now graduated uni and work full time, so by the time I get home I'm so exhausted that I don't want to focus on anything to complicated for very long. However, the main issue is that I just can't think of anything, and when I do and start editing after a while I hate the idea and scrap it.
Before I would just hear a song and BAM idea appears and I'm away, but now nothing. I'm trying to fix this though by forcing myself to post old things so as to get back in the habit in the hope that it will trigger my brain into being it's old self. I love editing. It's soothing, but not when getting an idea I'm happy with is like pulling teeth.
