I'm Vidding It! Japanese Dictionary Empty I'm Vidding It! Japanese Dictionary

Post by ashe12mariana 31st December 2009, 1:32 pm

Since a lot of members here watch japanese animes or play games in japanese, why not share with us some words you know in japanese and make a small dictionary with them?

What do you say?

You just need to contribute with 1 or 2 words or even more if you know them. Ill keep updating this topic and we will have a small, but good dictionary.

If you see any errors in the words, please post the right way of saying/writing it. If possible, list all your words by alphabetical order (A-Z).

I thought Watashi was Feminine and Boku was Masculine for I?
(shit, my rigid Japanese teacher's ways are coming baaaack in to my brain!)
Next thing you know I'm going to remember how to spell my name in hiragana. <--idk if I spelled that right.

Atashi is "I" for girls and Boku is "I" for boys while Watashi is "I" for both genders I think

Well, I don't know, that's what my teacher said.
whatever, Watashi/Boku is possessive not just I, it includes my, mine, that kind of stuff. So, I mean, it's a noun. Not just a word.
(the things I remember.-_-)
I should have said that earlier.

Well, I only know "arigato" and "sayonara" which everybody knows, but I'll look for some other words in my mangas =)
Btw, I think that Yuki also means "princess", or at least is what I got from Vampire Knight

Some new words added.

Please go check the dictionary before telling me words (unless there's another way of saying some word that is already in the dictionary). Can anyone tell me how to say the days of the week in japanese?

do you mean the wordgroup "days of the week" or monday, tuesday...?

Monday: Getsuyōbi
Tuesday: kayōbi
Wednesday: suiyōbi
Thursday: mokuyōbi
Friday: kinyōbi
Saturday: doyōbi
Sunday: nichiyōbi

in fact, "yōbi" also can be written as "yoobi", because the ō shows that the o is... long-drawn-out.
